Adaptive Social Protection training in Senegal

1st May 2019

Evidence for Development are delighted to have co-organised Adaptive Social Protection training in Senegal with the Walker Institute as part of the ASPIRE programme. ASPIRE is a DFID/World Bank Adaptive Social Protection project in the Sahel. The aim of this training, which took place at the end of last month, was to facilitate dialogue between the providers and users of climate information and to explore ways of improving climate-livelihoods impact analysis.

The training attracted a wide range of participants including representatives from Meteorological services across West, East and Southern Africa, representatives of national social protection programmes, members of the UN FAO’s (Food and Agricultural Organization) regional social protection team, as well as senior academics from UCAD, which hosted the meeting. We are currently building on the insights from this meeting to further develop inter-disciplinary distance learning materials with the Walker Academy.
