The students who took part in in the Climate Services Academy and Training (CSAT) programme EfD was involved in developing with the Walker Institute earlier in the year, presented work from their overseas placements at a showcase event at the University of Reading today. The event was attended by Rosalind West from the UK Department of International Development (DFID) as well as academic staff from across the University. DFID praised the interdisciplinary approach taken during the training and recognised the value of the in-country placements.
Following the success of CSAT, the Walker Institute is establishing the Walker Academy, which will run a range of short courses and programmes focusing on interdisciplinary work in climate and environmental sciences, as well as facilitate capacity development in livelihoods. We are delighted to have the opportunity to work with the Walker Institute in developing and delivering some of these programmes.
In September 2018, EfD will trial a pilot Household Economy Methodology Foundation course with a small number of selected participants within the Walker Academy. If this pilot is successful, we hope to open the course to external applications in September 2019.
